Looking to get into numismatics

Hey. Where's the best place to buy byzantine and medieval gold coins? Ebay seems to overcharge for what they have. APMEX has great prices but very limited selection. And I can't find much else. Besides of course the local coin stores. Thanks in advance.

Try a google search. I suspect you may find rare coin dealer your best source. Look for auctions on coins of antiquity.:smokin:

Do a hundred hours of research before buying the first coin. It will pay you back in the end.

I think that's where you're going to get them. Local folks, wanting to trade rare/valuable gold coins into $BirdCageLiner, foolishly sell to the dealer, at, say, $25 under spot, for someone like you or I to say, "Hey! I've always wanted tne of them!". The dealer makes a decent spread, your collection is enhanced, and the original seller can go buy a big-ass TV set.
